Letter from new President of MCHS Athletic Booster Club

Hello MCHS ABC,

For those of you who do not know me, let me introduce myself. I am Becky Latta, the new Mayde Creek Athletic Booster Club president. My high school son is Brady Atkinson, a football player and soccer player, who is about to enter his senior year. I am married to Mike Latta, the boys varsity soccer coach here at MCHS. I have been involved with the booster club for the past three years and served on a few committees, including vice president of membership this past year.

Parents, please remember that if you have an annual membership, you may begin renewing it starting today. Our next meeting will be Monday, May 4 at 7pm in the Ram Team Room and forms will be available for you to renew your membership!

This year was an exciting year for MC athletics. The football team qualified for the state playoffs for the second year in a row. The girls soccer team made it to the playoffs under the direction of 1st year Coach Elise Karlowicz. The girls basketball team made it to the playoffs. We had our first swimmer to win a state title. Our first golfer to make it to state. And the boys track team took the district title again! These were just a few things that made this year stand out. Next year is going to be very exciting and we have a lot of activities that have already begun. It's time to get involved! We still need several committee chairs; so now is the right time to step up.

It is very important to remember that we are a booster club for ALL athletics at MCHS and the money we raise goes for all athletes. The booster club has provided Mayde Creek athletes with many items that would not have been possible without these funds. Membership fees are just one of the many ways that the booster club can provide items for the athletes that would not have been possible otherwise. But more than the fees, we would like to see more parents become involved in their athlete's booster club. There are so many opportunities available to get involved and serve in the booster club. We need all parents to step up and serve, otherwise it is just the same few parents that give freely of their time to support not only their athlete but yours as well. It does not require a lot of time if every parent will get involved. You will see that we are a fun and friendly group and it is a great chance to get to know other parents of your childs teammates. We would love to welcome you into the booster club and help you find a place to serve!!!

Please come to our next meeting Monday, May 4th at 7pm in the Ram Team Room located in the back of the school in the athletic wing. The back door by the practice fields is the entrance we use and we meet in the room to the right, across from the drill team gym.

We look forward to the 2009-2010 season. Mayde Creek athletics is a force to be reckoned with and we are excited about all the great things that are happening!! Don't be left out! Your athlete is counting on you!!!
